I hope you know,

I never forgot you.

I wish we kept in contact more,

Wish I was better to you.

I never got to see you face to face,

But I’ve always had that picture ingrained in my memory.

All the gifts I’ll never get to give you,

All the letters that will never be received.

I always wrote spanish better than I spoke it.

You always crossed my mind more than I showed it.

With you goes one of the only goals I ever had,

To sit with you and maybe feel complete.

But that day won’t ever come.

You won’t get to see how short I am,

And I won’t get to hug you awkwardly;

All the while trying not to freak out or cry.

I’m sorry and in truth it’s not enough.

Do you know how much you meant to us?

Even without seeing you constantly,

You were always present in our mind.

But life came too fast,

Troubles piled too high.

But you were always present in our mind.

I feel like crying, but I don’t want your son to see.

When I’m alone, and I let my thoughts wander,

I’ll imagine a meeting that will never come to be.

And my dreams will be met with teary smiles.

Though I’ll never reach Heaven,

I feel content to know that you’re there.
